Whenever it happens the Left immediately demands more gun laws. The reality is we have already done that and it doesn’t work. Simply because guns are not the problem, people are the problem, it is such a complex issue few will even discuss it.
The problem is deeply rooted in our society our culture. It may have started when we took God out of our schools then progressed through our educational curriculum. My generation was taught the values of religion, the principals and values of America, the founding intent, the functions of government the value of family. We were taught that education was important for us to pursue our dreams in a free market society. We could be whatever we wanted to be with hard work. We were given a pride of country and a respect for history.
That has changed and the product is a generation of youth who are confused, lack a sense of community a value for family and a pride of being American. A generation, which harbors a dislike of America, of government, lacks a sense of community and of belonging. Our schools no longer expose youth to the values of religion, the values and principals America was founded on, they have taken away that American dream.
Today youth are exposed to a negative curriculum, capitalism is an evil system, which the wealthy uses to enslave people, and not that it is a system where anyone can become wealthy. America allowed slavery and is therefore racist, not that it fought to abolish slavery. They are taught to despise the country they grew up in, to oppose it, to change it. They are conditioned to believe if they fail to enter college they will fail in life, the importance of vocational and trade schools is secondary. The combined result is an individual who feels alone, disconnected from community, country and family with no will to succeed only a will to strike out in anger.
The time has come to admit that, to correct a system of education that molds the minds and emotions of our youth that causes them to feel alone and hate. We don’t want to admit what has happened in America, or how difficult and time consuming it will be to correct. What services do we offer youth who feel alone, abandoned, confused with no sense of respect for country, others or themselves?
If you want to blame something or someone for violence in America take a long hard look into that mirror and ask yourself how we allowed this to happen and what we have done to correct it. Did we email, write, tweet, call an elected official to express this problem and demand that solutions be pursued? We are all responsible and neglectful in our duty to pursue a “more perfect Union”.
