Protect America

Sitting outside on your lanai protected by a roof next to your fifty foot screened in pool in a comfortable chair before a table with an oil lamp or candle, under the whirling fan listening to the sounds of trees swaying in the breeze and all those little creatures of nature, coupled with the sounds of traffic in the distance muffled by natures greenery and distance, just enough to let you know you are not alone in this world. Then from time to time the sound of the Sheriff’s siren fading in the distance, just enough to let you know they are at work. To me, this is relaxing.

For me, this is the American dream. The highest of goals for those who worked all their lives to achieve, you have finally retired. Who could possible disagree with that concept? How could anyone want to change the country that allows you to reach that goal? For me it’s a great deal, you get rights, freedoms, protections and opportunities to basically do what you want in life, as a reward for a lifetime of work and support.

Of course we all hate taxes, but that’s the deal. You work and pay taxes so at some point in your life you reach that goal surrounded by all those conveniences and services one needs in life, which your taxes helped to promote. In the course of the night, as I hear those few sirens it is good to know the Sheriff is in town. I am not annoyed as some may be, I am relieved and relaxed.

That is the result of the American dream for me. If you strive for more than that chances are you will be unhappy, you see the American Dream is quite simple.

It doesn’t have to be changed or fixed, as the founding fathers said we just work for a “more perfect union”. We don’t make it different, we make it better. So when I hear those say what they want to do to change America I think of how sad it is they don’t understand the American Dream. As well as how dangerous it is they would want to change a nation which has offered its citizens more than any other nation in the history of civilization. America has protected us now we must protect America,
