What is NATO?

So, I’m confused. NATO was established after WWII to ensure that any country a member of NATO would be protected against attack from another country. NATO would unify, mobilize, and engage its military to protect the attacked country.
My confusion is with the reality of Iran sending missiles & drones to around 12 NATO countries, blowing shit up, oil fields, hotels, airports, civilian areas with no response from NATO. Action is their duty, the core of their creation to protect countries & they are nonresponsive. I’m relieved that at least our President is calling them out publicly, as should other countries. The hard reality is NATO should be playing a MAJOR part in protecting NATO countries in the Mideast, yet America & Israel are. Maybe Americans should be sending NATO a text asking what the problem is?
Now we have the Save America Act that Democrats refuse to pass, although 70% of voting democrats want it to pass, along with over 80% of Americans. Keep in mind, included in this act is the protection of girls in sports & protections against transgender surgery affecting our youth. Not to mention their refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security, which includes TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, and others. Most importantly are those who work to gather, evaluate & track electronic communications for traces of threats to America (you don’t hear about those essential workers), keeping in mind we are at war. How could any American in Congress not resolve such serious issues? This is just scary & mindboggling unless you feel the democrats are seeking to destroy what we know as America, then it all makes perfect sense & I get it.
So, whatever side you are on, those conspiracy people or those who are scared with a boggled mind, we all must admit, something must be done to resolve this. For me, I trust THIS government to resolve it. For others, you'd better make up your mind which direction you want for America as you consider your midterm vote. Take the time to be aware of information from all sources, evaluate & arrive at conclusions to guide your vote for the America you want. Your one vote represents all you want for America, for your life. Add it to all those Americans who feel the same as you, that is how We the People control what a government does.
