What is Thanksgiving?

Ok, so now we have people who protest Thanksgiving because in their world it disrespects the Indians. I find it quite sad how many “Americans” have no knowledge of history. Can we all just deal with reality?

Thanksgiving was never about giving thanks to the Indians. The first Thanksgiving was proclaimed by George Washington in 1789 and the intent was to “render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.” That is the only reason for Thanksgiving, by proclamation from our first President to honor God. You see back in those days God played a very big part in people’s lives, unlike today.

So the next time you hear someone talk about how they don’t honor Thanksgiving, please education them, for their own sake. And, can we all just get back to reality and conduct ourselves based on facts.

Also another interesting fact, America has already tried socialism, the Pilgrims tried it, yea that free stuff thing, resulting in a total disaster endangering their very existence. At that point they switched to the free market system where they thrived and America became the greatest nation on earth. So before you proclaim your ideas on “fixing America” you might want to look into history to see if it has already been tried. Also, before you form a position please research the facts so your decision is sound, don’t rely on others who may lead you down a road which has no exit.
